Patisserie Ambrosia 69 in Winchester Street, Andover

A new patisserie in town

The manager of a new patisserie in Andover has received the first instalment of a £1,000 Independent Retailer Grant from Test Valley Borough Council.

Mariusz Pieprzowski and his wife Dorota opened Patisserie Ambrosia 69 in Winchester Street, Andover, to sell a wide range of delicious cakes, pastries, sweets and treats.

St Mary’s ward councillor, Councillor David Denny, presented the cheque and said: “It was great to visit Mariusz and Dorota to present this grant. They have worked incredibly hard to set up the business and ensure that the unit is fit for purpose. The two of them are experienced bakers and even ran a bakery in Athens before they moved to Andover seven years ago. I wish them all the best in their new venture.”

Mariusz said: “It has taken us a long time to get to this stage but I am really happy that we made it. Thank you to everyone for supporting us. We look forward to welcoming you to our bakery.”

Recipients of the £1,000 grant receive £500 after three months of trading and a further £500 six months later. To be eligible for the grant, new or existing independent businesses must occupy a town centre ground floor unit which has been vacant for at least one month. Qualifying businesses include shops, restaurants and hairdressers.
