Refill project comes to Romsey!
Visitors to Romsey can now stop off and fill up their water bottles at more than 20 locations after businesses around the town signed up to the Refill Romsey project.
The scheme, organised together with the Romsey Future partnership and Test Valley Borough Council aims to reduce single-use plastic. It offers shoppers and visitors the opportunity to use the locations to fill up their water bottles rather than purchase one from a shop.
Businesses currently signed up include book shops, pubs and Romsey Rapids and are displaying stickers to let people know that they are a refill station.
The project launched late last month, with Romsey Future and TVBC members speaking to residents and raffling off reusable bottles at a stall in the Cornmarket.
Romsey Future’s sustainability lead, councillor Neil Gywnne, said: “I’m really pleased that so many businesses across Romsey have already signed up to what is such an important project. There are more than 16,000 refill stations nationwide already, so it’s fantastic that Romsey has joined in to help reduce plastic use.”
Chair of Romsey Future, councillor Nick Adams-King, added: “We know that the increasing use of plastics is something we absolutely must address and this is a valuable step in helping us to do this.
“I’m very grateful to all the organisations in Romsey, both larger and smaller, who recognise how vital this is and have offered their services.”
