Business heats up as Jake collects council grant
A Bourne Valley man who set up as a heating engineer has been given a financial boost through a Business Incentive Grant from Test Valley Borough Council (TVBC).
Jake Heaver started his business in January and specialises in the installation and servicing of wood burners, oil boilers and oil range cookers.
Now, TVBC has given Jake a £750 cash boost as his workload hots up while he aims to add gas installation and servicing to his repertoire.
Ward member for Bourne Valley, councillor Phil North, said: “Jake has shown fantastic initiative in starting his business and continuing to enhance his skillset. This is exactly why we offer these grants, to give people such as Jake an even better chance of succeeding in the early stages of their business.”
Jake’s father-in-law is also a plumber offering him the chance to gain more experience and opportunities to obtain further qualifications.
Jake said: “The support I’ve had from the council, both with this grant and also in business advice will help greatly towards the expense of setting up a new business. My family has been very supportive during my new business venture, with a special mention to my wife who was the one that found out about the grant, giving my business a helpful boost.”
The council’s Business Incentive Grants are available to anyone looking to set up their own business in Test Valley. Anyone who successfully applies for the grant will receive £750 if their business is still going strong six months later.
These funds have become available to the community as a consequence of the council’s prudent investments, financial management and use of the New Homes Bonus.
