Council sparks boost for new electrician

Gavin Burgess of GPB Electrical services has been awarded a £750 Business Incentive Grant, following the launch of his new business last year.

The Andover company has now benefited from a Test Valley Borough Council grant.

Gavin’s company offers a range of domestic and commercial installation, maintenance and repairs for customers in Andover and the surrounding villages.

With experience and contacts in the industry, Gavin is already getting offers of work and support by word of mouth.

Andover Alamien ward member, councillor Tracey Preston presented the cheque to Gavin. She said: “Starting your own business is no easy feat, so I am pleased to hear that Gavin is already gaining referrals for work.”

Gavin said: “I am really grateful at the response I have received after launching GPB Electrical Services.

“My friend recommended I apply for a Business Incentive Grant, after being awarded her own Independent Retailer Grant from the council last year. I am really pleased that I qualified for a Business Incentive Grant and that the council were able to support me as I set up my new business.”

The Council’s Business Incentive Grants are available to anyone looking to set up their own business in Test Valley.

Anyone who successfully applies for the grant will receive £750 if their business is still going strong six months later.
