Interest floods in for Andover masterplan project

Planning experts from across the country have submitted bids for the Andover masterplan project, which will shape the plans for the major redevelopment of the town centre.

As part of the tender the council published a brief which set out its ambitions for Andover and its desire to deliver a thriving, destination town. The council has made clear that it is committed to consulting with the public throughout the process and is looking for a planning partner who can engage and communicate with the local community and other interested parties to develop their aspirations and turn them into a deliverable masterplan.

Leader of Test Valley Borough Council, Councillor Phil North, said: “It is really exciting that we have seen such a huge level of interest from planning experts across the country. This reflects the scale of this project, which really is a once in a generation opportunity for the town. There is so much potential and I look forward to working closely with planners, residents, businesses and other interested parties to help shape Andover’s future.”

Planning consultants were asked to look at key sites including the High Street, Chantry Centre and proposed Cultural Quarter and how they can interlink in order to help deliver a successful and vibrant town centre that meets the needs of its communities now and into the future.

The invitation to tender closed on Friday 24 May and the council is now evaluating the submissions with a view to appointing the successful bidder in June.
