Grant boost for Chantry Centre store

A new business in the Chantry Centre has been awarded a £500 boost through a Test Valley Borough Council Independent Retailer Grant.

SHO Space is run by managing director Kate Letteriello and her general manager Katie Garwood after opening up in the centre earlier this year.

The store sells both new and ex-display furniture along with home accessories and gifts. Now, the store has been awarded the first £500 of its £1,000 Independent Retailer Grant.

Kate said: “We’ve really enjoyed our first few months of trading and everyone has been very supportive. Andover has a really bright future and it’s one we’re very excited to be a part of.

“The advice and help from all areas of the council has been fantastic and a massive help in us getting off the ground.”

Ward member Iris Andersen, added: “This is a really promising new business and it’s great to see the Chantry Centre even busier. Kate is right that the town has a bright future and it’s down to people such as her which is a big reason why.”

Recipients of the £1,000 grant first receive £500 after three months of trading and a further £500 six months later. To be eligible for the grant, new or existing independent businesses must occupy a town centre ground floor unit which has been vacant for at least one month.

Qualifying businesses include shops, restaurants and cafes.

These funds have become available to the community as a consequence of the council’s prudent investments, financial management and use of the New Homes Bonus.
