Produce on sale at the markets

Markets make a welcome comeback for 2021!

The popular monthly Artisan markets are back for 2021. They will fill Andover High Street with local produce and crafts on the third Sunday of each month starting from 18 April.

March will be a little different due to lockdown restrictions, when there will be a bijou but brilliant version of the Artisan Market on Sunday, 21 March.  This, ‘Food, drink and plants market’ will run from 10am until 2pm in the High Street, with local traders selling a wide selection of locally produced food, drink and plants.  Everything from pies to pork, and gin to mead!

The market will be open air and set up with lots of space around the stalls to ensure that customers experience a comfortable and safe shopping environment.

Leader of the council, Councillor Phil North said: “It is great news that the Artisan Markets are back.  They are part of a varied calendar of markets and events planned by the council for the High Street in 2021 aimed at encouraging people back into the town to support local artisans and businesses.”

There are more shopping experiences to look forward to in the coming months with the return of the indoor pop-up craft market in the Chantry Centre on 24 April and 25 May, and the very first Andover Chilli Fiesta on Sunday, 23 May.  Featuring all things chilli related, and with music and refreshments too, it is sure to be a complete fiesta experience!

More information about all of these events will be shared in local and social media closer to the time, but mark the dates in a diary to be sure not to miss out.

If you are a local trader or craftsperson interested in taking part in these markets or future enterprises, please email Heather Whittam at Test Valley Borough Council for more information: hwhittam@testvalley.gov.uk
