New hair salon a cut above the rest with council grant

A new hair salon called ‘Knightwood Hair’ at Knightwood Leisure Centre has scooped a £750 Business Incentive Grant from Test Valley Borough Council.

Rebecca Curtis used to run a hair salon called The Hair Hut with her sister in a unit at Abbey Park Industrial Estate, but now they both work individually in a smaller spaces and Rebecca has taken the opportunity to set up on her own in Valley Park.

Rebecca said “Knightwood Leisure Centre is the perfect location for my new hair salon as it already has a regular footfall of potential customers. It is great news that my application for the Business Incentive Grant has been accepted to help get the new business off the ground.”

Ward councillor, Alan Dowden, who recently presented the cheque to Rebecca, said: “The grant schemes are a great opportunity for those wishing to set up new businesses in Test Valley. I am delighted that Rebecca has been successful in her grant application and wish her every success.”

The council’s business incentive grants are available to anyone looking to set up their own business in Test Valley. Anyone who successfully applies for the grant will receive £750 if their business is still going strong six months later.

These funds have become available to the community as a consequence of the council’s prudent investments, financial management and the use of the New Homes Bonus.
