Second Sundays brings festive fun to Andover this month!

Andover’s newest monthly market, Second Sundays, will pop up in the High Street on Sunday 11 December, 10am – 3pm, offering food, music and a fantastic Christmas shopping experience.

Local businesses will be setting up their stalls featuring plenty of artisan treats. Shoppers can look forward to buying unique Christmas presents for friends and family with traders selling festive floral arrangements and plants, hand-poured candles and original artwork. Delicious preserves will be available, as well as locally distilled gin, recycled silver jewellery, wax melts and much more.

Free craft workshops will be offered to visitors of all ages throughout the day with the chance to create special clay ornaments and make collage Christmas cards. There will also be two wreath making workshop, run by regular trader Buttercups & Bobbins, and tickets for these can be purchased in advance: Natural Christmas Door Wreath Workshop Tickets, Sun 11 Dec 2022 at 10:30 | Eventbrite

All of this month’s workshops have been specially curated to have a fun, festive theme. Since launching in June 2022, Second Sundays has offered a huge variety of classes and workshops at each event from flower arranging to jewellery making, print press art and hula hoop classes. Every month visitors have been able to try out something new whilst browsing the stalls and making the most of the atmosphere in Andover’s High Street.

Alongside the market stalls and craft activities, visitors to December’s event will be tempted by freshly cooked street food including handmade burgers. Artisan coffee and delicious donuts will be available to buy and a selection of seasonal drinks will be on offer at the Andover Tap horse box such as spiced mulled wine, hot chocolate with Baileys and a special Christmas pudding gin cocktail.

The town’s pop-up seating space, Alfresco Andover, will be back in front of the Guildhall providing an ideal spot to sit and listen to the DJ’s mixed set throughout the afternoon.

Second Sundays launched earlier this year, and has been developed by HemingwayDesign, on behalf of Test Valley Borough Council. The market takes place in the High Street every month and welcomes a range of local businesses selling unique, hand-crafted items.

The December market will be the last one to take place in Andover this year, with Second Sundays set to return to the town centre in spring 2023.

Leader of Test Valley Borough Council, Councillor Phil North, said: “The December market will be a great place to shop for some truly unique gifts, plus it will be the last chance to visit the event this year.

“Second Sundays has definitely made an impact on the town over the past few months and demonstrates what fantastic local businesses we have in the area. Whilst the market will take a short break over winter I’m looking forward to its return next spring when we’ll see more local traders, food sellers and crafters coming back to the High Street.”

Second Sundays will be open 10am to 3pm on Sunday 11 December.
