Remembrance Sunday parade to take place in Andover
Veterans, troops and uniformed groups are set to take part in a Remembrance Sunday Parade in Andover, on Sunday 13 November, to honour our servicemen and women.
- A service will be taking place at St Mary’s Church
- Around 100 people are expected to take part in the parade
- There will be some road closures due to the event
It’s part of a morning of events, which will allow the public to pay their respects to those who served in battle and made the ultimate sacrifice.
The parade will begin at Bridge Street towards Winchester Street, onto Eastern Avenue and to St Mary’s Church for an indoor service at 10am, led by Rev’d Chris Bradish.
Following this, at 10.45am, there will be a special service held in the Garden of Remembrance, where the Deputy Lieutenant of Hampshire, the Mayor of Test Valley, the President of the Andover Branch of the Royal British Legion, Representatives of the Freeman of the Borough of Test Valley, North West Hampshire MP and the Andover Town Mayor will lay wreaths.
Children from local schools will also lay posies of poppies.
Following the end of the act of remembrance, dignitaries will travel to Eastern Avenue to salute the return parade.
As a result, there will be some road closures on Sunday morning.

10.15 to 10.45am:
- Western Avenue
- High Street
- London Street
- Winchester Street
- South Street
- Eastern Avenue
- London Road
- East Street
- Savoy Close
- Newbury Street
These closures will be re-enforced from 11.25am until 12pm.

“As well as paying our respects to those have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, Remembrance Sunday is also an opportunity for us to show our appreciation to our current service personnel and their families - who do so much to keep us safe. As a town with strong military connections, I know St Mary’s Garden of Remembrance and the parade route will be packed like usual as Andover comes together to remember.”
There will also be memorial events in Romsey, including a parade and a service at Romsey Abbey.
