West Dean VDS SPD
The West Dean Village Design Statement SPD was adopted by the Council on 22 February 2010, following a recommendation from the Council’s Cabinet of 17th February 2010. It forms part of the Local Development Framework (LDF) for the area and therefore forms the basis for decisions on land use planning affecting the area.
Until the final version is completed please view the draft SPD and Cabinet report of 17 February 2010.
Test Valley Borough Council has adopted the West Dean Village Design Statement as a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) for the part of West Dean within the Parish of West Tytherley. This is administered at parish level by a joint parish council with the Parish of Frenchmoor, the West Tytherley and Frenchmoor Parish Council.
The remaining part of West Dean lies within Wiltshire and is within the Parish of West Dean. This is administered at parish level by West Dean Parish Council. Wiltshire Council as planning authority for this area, adopted the West Dean Village Design Statement as a material planning consideration for the purposes of development management for this part of West Dean on 24 January 2013.
The Council has not prepared a Sustainability Appraisal (SA) for the SPD as:
- It is not considered that the SPD would have significant social, environmental or economic effects that are not covered in the SA prepared for the Core Strategy DPD;
- It is not required by the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Directive 2001/42/EC
- Section 180(5)(d) Planning Act 2008 removed the compulsory requirement for a SA for an SPD.
