Method of Approach Adopted for the Project

Final Landscape Character Assessment Report

The Final Landscape Character Assessment Report drew on the responses of both the members of the local community and the stakeholders. The workshop led to the endorsement of most of the landscape character types and character areas, with some changes to the names of character areas to reflect local knowledge and some localised boundary changes. Most of all, the workshop enabled the professional work to be modified through local knowledge and for the guidelines to be reviewed with the benefit of local perceptions and aspirations. The workshop again highlighted the contrast between what is considered beneficial or detrimental to the landscape by professionals and by members of the public. This necessitated a careful review of the first draft and contributed to the expansion of the section on Community Perceptions for each Landscape Character Area.
